Modern political systems are all deeply flawed. They don't provide sufficient separation of powers. Agreed. Another here recently said that America was founded by enlightened people who sought to limit individual power. I agree with this. But the experiment both worked, and failed. Over time it has not adapted to the times. Power has always sought to find ways to extend its power - the current system has insufficient checks and balances, too easily corrupted starting at a basic moral level and beyond.
