eh, there's a point where the spirit of debate changes from insightful to inciteful. I can appreciate the 'defending a friend' aspect very much so, and I think every good person has done so at one point or another. Just thinking aloud, doesn't look like anyone is making much headway here. So when insight is lost, and it just gets into 'argumenative stage', there isn't much left.

I remember back at the Bergin Club, an informal roundtable debate with Tony "Quack Quack" Ruggiero where he proclaimed that the Jews whacked out Jesus. John Gotti, somewhat insensitively replies, "Maybe he had it coming." Naturally, that touched off quite a philosophical debate among men of such stature. Johnny Boy was never subtle. Maybe inappropriate at the moment, like my Aunt Eunice, but ... whatever....

But aren't we glad we're not whacking each other over table manners like the family back in Worcester that I pointed out here: Message 20803436 I wonder what CGB would think if that started happening over this little thing? Maybe those hunters had it coming? "Table manners" certainly passes the "stranger things have happened" test.

Skipping all the above verbiage, to get to the heart of the matter, I think first party goofed like Aunt Eunice at dinner table. But goof was taken more seriously than should have been. If there's an Aunt Eunice in your family, just pass the potatoes and gravy. The linkage and irony of my Thanksgiving post was Far Too Subtle, perhaps. That's okay ... it balances out for Eunice and John and CGB.

Maybe nobody had it coming.
