Actually, I prefer both "facts" & "ideas & possibilities", as long as the "ideas & possibilities" are reality based &/or are supported by sound logic. If certain ideas & possibilities are based on false premises or faulty logic, etc., you might as well go watch a Hollywood movie or Mooreomentry & use that in a vain attempt to draw logical conclusions. "Okay, given those perspectives I'd like your thoughts on the existence of other intelligent life." As you can see your perspective was quite inaccurate. One can rely heavily on facts, logic & reason, yet still be very open to "ideas & possibilities". You simply start with a different perspective & framework from which one entertains those "ideas & possibilities". "My belief is that there IS other life out there, and am surprised we don't have more concrete examples. You?" I think it is possible. There are many billions of stars in the universe. There are probably many, many billions of planets. I see no reason why there can't be intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.
