I'm not so sure. You're concluding that by reasoning that if you believe A you must believe B or some such logical argument. I'm beginning to wonder if logic has anything to do with public opinion.

I was reading the other day that some percentage in the teens, thirteen, I think, think that all abortion should be illegal. Yet some much larger percentage opposes research on human embryos. Now, logically, if you think that abortion might be OK even in the narrowest of circumstances, you could hardly disfavor destroying an embryo in a good cause.

IMO, many/most people's opinions simply don't make sense. What's more, I don't think they think it matters.
