I agree with you completely.

What Great Leaders Have Said About the Bible- seems problematic in 5th grade. On the other hand, learning that the country was founded by those seeking religious freedom seems fine. I think getting in to the details of religion, in 5th grade, would be inadvisable (and this guy seems to be really getting in to details.)

For example, how to tell 5th graders that the founding fathers were a bunch of deists, who rejected "revealed" religions ?(like Mr. Williams religion, if he is a born again Christian...)

I bet Mr. William didn't get in to that, even if he did understand it.

Restraint and good sense are what is necessary in education, imo. Not everyone in the business has those two qualities.
