Poet, just quickly-- I think the one good side of the assassinations is that they have not noticeably slowed the lines of Iraqis wanting to be Nat'l Guard, policemen, members of gov't, etc. Being a cop here is a dangerous job, but nothing to compare with Iraq, where they have been mowed down twenty at a time.

And yet they still come.

To me this is a very inspiring indication that there is silent majority in Iraq who really do want to have a stable and peaceful country after the Americans leave. There are a lot of reasons to be cynical about the prospects for that, but I just have a feeling it's all going to work out.

Our Goldens are doing fine--they are 8-1/2 now and time is passing all too quickly.
