The labor cost in China is still very much lower than in US and western world. Transportation cost is a big factor in fast equalization. So what, they will move to lower labor cost places throughout Southeast Asia through Chinese owned sweatshops and factories. The result will be higher per capita incomes in southeast Asia to spend on Chinese made electronic goods. China will be forced to quickly move to the electronics and other higher margin goods, and the squeeze on Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan dominance will be much sooner rather than later. Chinese notebook pc's, cellphones, digital cameras, camcorders, dvd's, etc. will be in stores worldwide by Christmas 2006? How dizzying fast these transformations are taking place!
