Aero,

That article portrays the spirit which I have personally witnessed on the several visits I have made to military bases in the past year. That is the spirit I have seen from my nephew in Iraq and my son who is on active duty.

A majority of the media doesn't get it and they think it's those who join who don't get it. A certain poster on this thread from the Viet Nam era doesn't get it either.

There is a certain spirit out there, with this generation, that has them living outside of themselves, something too many of their parents lack the ability to do.

I read in Navy Times about a month or two ago where 62% of those who were eligible for re-enlistment were doing so. Those are incredible retention rates. So many people want to stay in the service that they are forcing some out who wish to stay, to make room for those who are making their initial enlistment.

It's taking up to a year to get some of these recruits into boot camp, that's how long the list is. Hell, when I joined, you were off the next day before you had a chance to think about it.

And the incredible retention rate and enlistments are occurring during a time of war. Speaks volumes for our youth today. Damn, I'm proud of them!
