Yes, I completely agree with your approach.

The 1 million rule is a good one, but there are OCCASIONAL exceptions....

Actually, I often trade stocks with less than 1 million daily volume, maybe down to 0.5 million, but only if I see evidence that the float cannot be too easily manipulated, and that the chart and technicals are reasonably valid as predictors.

So, I think you know the score here.
