The view that the Iraq war was a mistake for the US overlooks the bigger picture and the reality that the US had to have a launching pad for the rest of that region, namely, Syria and Iran.

Anyone who thinks that Iraq was not simply Phase One of a grander strategy, is IMHO, missing the lesson of 9-11

IMO if kerry had won he would likely have tried negotiating with the islam terrorists...at least Bush is still trying to kill the Bastards and that is what IMO is required.

I don't believe that Kerry would ever have "sold us out", and the election exit polls showed clearly that people didn't vote against him for this, but over "morals", "gay marriages", "abortion rights"... domestic issues that don't do diddly for our country's geopolitical situation.

In my view, neither Kerry throwing his medals over the fence, nor Bush arranging not to have to put his yellow nose in Vietnam were scandalous enough to decide my vote. I care much more about here and now, not over something 20 years ago.

The real reason Islamist extremism is a global problem is because we are on the Saudi oil teat, and nothing else. The real solution is to treat moving away from their oil to energy independence as a cause of existential importance.

Because in the final analysis, Muslims, if they still refuse to reform, and go on blaming their woes on the existence of Jews, will simply be left behind while Asia, India, and the West walk away from them economically.
