I agree that it looks that way ... but it also looked that way for Japan (and Asia in general) a couple of decades ago. I suppose as long as you can update your thesis on a regular basis, then it is as good of a long-run perspective as any other -- it just might not have much relevance in the short-run.

Claude, China is a huge high risk bet. The bet is based on political stability. China will have to find a way to transit from Communism to representative democracy. How long the people will trade economics for freedom of political expression is a question I never see discussed. For sure China has come a long way. They have a huge hurdle ahead as their economy continues to grow.

India on the other hand has a functioning democracy that as it moves away from over regulation is perhaps a better bet for long term success. The young Indians I met in business are formidable competitors - and they speak English - a huge advantage. Britans great gift to the world is their language. One who speaks English can function anywhere in the world.
