Most of that is due to US$ tanking. The price of gold, imo, reflects the weakness in the US$ rather than the strength of the commodity. If you look at the ratio of the Canadian $ index to the POG, you'll it's on a downtrend.

But, the US$ massively out of favour and I don't see any recovery in it's valuation in the short term. Buying gold stocks sure is a good hedge against the currency, tho..
