You quote an overheated nut who claims to teach law at Loyola in N.O., who says she is an expert in "Islamic Law" but there is no proof I can find she ever resided in N.O. or practiced law, then you ask me to swallow whole, like you have, some quote made by a general who didn't even take into account the AQ connection to Somalia. LMAO!!!!!!! This gal's creds are so weak and vanescent, and her previous writings so insane, I would definitely look outside if she told me the sky was blue. And, yes, that is precisely why one checks out the author of a statement one is ready to say constitutes the Holy Grail of acute and incisive observations, as you did. You didn't know squat about her when you canonized her, and now have to defend her bona fides. I love it. It's laughable. And yes, soldiers call their mamas during wartime when they're scared, which is pretty much most of the time when they are doing something hazardous. So we had one instance of guys freaking out. BFD. One would think it's the end of the Western civilization the way you and Whalen wring your hands over one incident among hundreds of thousands of similar instances which are otherwise unremarkable.
