"in Afghanistan, Karbala, Najaf, and Fallujah"

I have no idea what Ms. Whalen's wishes might be- nor do I really care. I know, I know- people here think people who disagree with them "wish" Iraq will end up badly- but I haven't seen that. I hope it ends up well- but I can't see how you can say "soundly" about the defeats of Islamist insurgents, in places like Falluja. It looks anything but sound to me. It looks to me like the big fish got away, and will start more trouble using episodes like Falluja as a recruiting tool. The US "will" to fight isn't playing so well in the Islamic world. I think the soundness of our victories will have a lot to do with the PR we can put out in the Islamic world- and right now the PR is against us. That's a huge problem, imo.
