Searle,

Re: And we must not forget that the new US Secretary of State, Miss Amerika AKA Condi Rice, is a Russian expert.

Miss Amerika was a Sovietologist. That's quite a bit different from being a Putintologist. I'm sure she'll muddle through and do just as much of a bang-up job on this latest Ukraine kerfluffle as she managed to do with 9/11/01. How could she have known that her job was "security", after all? We have to show some forebearance to these double minorities as they mature.

Condi and Puti only got 6,000 nuclear missiles aimed at each other, so eventually things will calm down.

"Amazing to see how aggressive the US is "

I agree, because regardless of the outcome, there will be trouble for the US. But of course, most people believe that Putin is compromised, that the US is the only superpower, and that the US should "put Putin in his place". (alliteration not intended). g

The US has made the choice to further alienate Russia, by its support for their chosen western candidate. That is already a done deal. Bellicose statements from the US and Europe will further inflame the situation, and it will be interesting to see what Russia's response will ultimately be.

Re: I am sure the neocons are trying to raise the temperature for war wherever they can, first in Muslim countries, now in former USSR. This way they hope to re-establish US hegemony internationally,...

I think the rationale underpinning the US's open support to Yushenko is more simple than that... Just as the US is pressuring France to make her more cooperative in Iraq, the US stirs it up in Ukraine to strong-arm Russia into falling into line with the US over Iraq AND IRAN... The US has fomented troubles into both Ivory Coast and Ukraine to exert pressure over two key UN Sec Council members...
