We believers are certainly not perfect here in the flesh (as the Lord knows), but as I look around me, I see very many of us giving, often sacrificially, to those less fortunate. This article likely only references charitable giving in the form of the raw dollars reported on IRS forms. When each Sabbath my family visits the nursing homes, prisons, hospitals and/or shut-ins, we are not seeing leftists there at all, except when they are visiting relatives in these circumstances (and sometimes they aren't there even then). We do see fellow believers there praying and suffering with these people. The time spent and burdens shared when one visits these places are considerable, yet believers are still there. In at least one case, and I think this is just a representative case, the believers are so eagerly and consistently ministering to the hurting, that the local government, pressed for funds, has stopped paying for ministerial services and opened its doors to Christian servants. The believers get to spread the Gospel in the worst places while saving the government money. The government called these people because it noticed that the Christians brought a significant degree of strength and hope to the most abandoned members of its population. So, when leftists call us names and ridicule us as being un-Christlike simply because we don't support their stealing money from citizens to give to people through big socialized government programs, I am completely unfazed. They simply join the rest of the background noise as I continue doing the real work of service that Christ has assigned to me.
