I think the way that feature worked from the time of the last redesign until earlier today was an enhancement to the original, which took you to the first unread post by that person. After that you were on your own, the "next" link was the next post in that thread, not the next post by that person on any thread. And I am fairly sure Bob mentioned it was an feature on borrowed time, that would go "premium" as soon as he could code for it, but in the hubub of the new site, it was easy to overlook. It could be worse, somewhere out there there's a guy still pissed at SI because he was promised a t-shirt in 1997 and never got it.
