Something like 10-15% inflation or devaluation of the USD will increase tax reciepts enough serioulsy reduce the Federal budget defict - effectively reversing some of the Bush tax cuts.

Changing the trade defict will take longer - it takes about 6 months for commodity product trades to reverse, and longer for manufactured goods - maybe 2 years on average.

After the devaluations, there are lots of external assests which cna be sold and the funds repatriated.

US Corporations are in good financial shape.

US consumers are not in as bad shape as the savings rate suggests.

I expect we may get to $1500 per ounce of gold, but that may take seven or eight years.
