Charters Respond to of 8273 Ideals and Idealism cannot easily be implemented amongst civilized men who have wrested a living amongst themselves by doing what the land demanded they do. We should follow deep tracks and not always be trying to plow them under to level off our past. Nevertheless we should follow our dreams as we build and live only hemmed in by the hazy edges of our possibilities. I envision someday floating machines, hovering above trees with micro plants in them, hooking onto forest giants and lifting them high into the air, to spit out finished products into waiting ferries that will take them direct to market on demand. Didn't you watch Star Wars when you were a kid? Or at least Buck Rogers? The Laser Chain saw is coming. You can ship high value product a lot further than you can ship raw product. You have a multiplicity of wood, and many mills or markets, but only one harvester per block. How does he maximize income? Ans: Maximizing output value. You can cut, skid, buck, debark, chip and haul now, with as many different noun machines as there are verbs of work. Put them all in one and it increases efficiency. One step further of mill, and make cants and you only have a small saw log device that is widely in use amongst micro-harvesters. Split the log or peel it for veneer? Not a biggie problem. Grind it up for pulp wood? Done like dinner. Make paper? Well perhaps not. That is a whole other industry. Perhaps someday with large blocks and contracts. Ground wood pulp without acid or effluent is coming to a forest block near you .. someday. What to do with all that sawdust. Environmentally efficient co-gen to run said porta-plantie. EC<:-}
