Telecoms.com News
30 November 2004

U.S. vendor Andrew Corporation said yesterday it will install what it claims to be the world's first UMTS network of its kind for use in a public transportation system, under a two-year contract to upgrade the Hong Kong mass transit railway's underground communications network. The solution that Andrew is installing on Hong Kong's metro system, will enable passengers to access UMTS services underground. Completion of the entire project including maintenance is expected in 2006.
