I know this may sound strange, but I think we sometimes get too caught up in the origin of cultural norms. Shouldn't we just enjoy the ritual as best we can and appreciate how these types of holidays brings people and families together?

Or should we analyze them ALL?
Does Martin Luther King Day marginalize white people?
Does Labor Day marginalize those without a job, or those who don't belong to a union?
Does Veterans Day marginalize anti-war protestors?
Does Independence Day marginalize our immigrant residents?

We go so overboard, it borders on ridiculousness. Just enjoy the Christmas break for what you get out of it.
