The New York State Comptroller is seeking lead plaintiff status in a lawsuit suing Merck (MRK:NYSE) for stock losses stemming from MRK's Vioxx withdrawal.

MRK stock held by the New York State pension fell $171 mln after the withdrawal was announced.

The EDs look priced about right to me, and already seem to be anticipating three to three and half rate increases over the next four meetings, and so do the Fed Funds futures. By March 22 we should be at 2.75% FF, still behind the inflation curve, and with a weak economy to boot.

The wild card will be longer and intermediate rates, and those will be set higher by foreigners, more so than the Fed.
