IMO Chicos doesn't have a "trading pattern" that relates to other retailers. CHS offers a unique type of clothing, at a reasonable price. IMO someone who shops at Chicos most likely shops at some of the upper end retail stores. Chicos has probably taken away some business from those who previously shopped exclusively at Ann Taylor, Talbots, or Nordstorm.

With their new Black and White stores, and their Soma store, they offer a unique type of clothing. Soma IMO is going to do very well. (Many women don't want to shop at a "Victoria Secret" type of store.)

CHS tends to be heavily shorted, and has high institutional ownership. Because of these two factors, it does tend to have a volatile trading pattern.

Chico`s FAS, Inc. Reports Record November Sales

FORT MYERS, Fla., Nov 30, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Chico's FAS, Inc. (CHS, Trade) today reported November sales results for the four week period ended November 27, 2004, increased 28.0% to $88.7 million from $69.2 million reported for the prior year's four week period ended November 29, 2003. Comparable store sales for the Company-owned stores increased 8.6% for the four week period ended November 27, 2004, compared to the same four week period last year.

For the forty-three weeks ended November 27, 2004, total sales increased 39.8% to $870 million from $622 million for the same period a year ago. Comparable store sales for the Company-owned stores increased 12.5% for the forty-three week period compared to the same forty-three week period last year.

Chico's sells exclusively designed, private-label women's clothing and related accessories. The Company operates 655 women's specialty stores, including stores in 47 states, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico operating under the Chico's, White House | Black Market and Soma by Chico's names. The Company owns 450 Chico's front-line stores, 25 Chico's outlet stores, 154 White House | Black Market front-line stores, 4 White House | Black Market outlet stores and 10 Soma by Chico's stores; franchisees own and operate 12 Chico's stores.
