Yes, "Empire", bitter old man.....

The Berlin Wall fell in 1989. The USSR collapsed into the dustbin of history in 1991. By 1995, the once feared Red Army had withdrawn from all the formerly occupied Eastern European nations, which all promptly joined the European Union at their earliest opportunity. In 1995, the NATO force should have been dissolved just as the once Warsaw Pact had been. The US troops in Europe should have gone home. Instead, the US troops stationed in Europe have gone to Iraq, leaving only "Color Guards" behind in their former bases in Europe.

When the US exits Iraq, as it eventually will, the US empire is over.
