James > I can definitely agree that we have many non-conformists that make up our country and I consider myself one of them

At least we have that in common, although I'm not an American. I'm sure you must have realized that I'm a non-conformist by now.

> The reasons for their way of doing things is usually found to be self serving and narrow minded, imo.

And we have that in common, too.

> The Church of God is to be found in the heart of the believer and not in the practice of church creeds.

And I agree with that, too.

> The Bible has for me, is always the final arbiter of truth and not in what church you have been baptised in or what practices are laid down by any body.

But there we differ. I don't need a Bible or any book of rules to know what I should do in my life or how to be in awe of the world we find ourselves in or to realize there are many aspects of our lives which are outside of our control. As far as I am concerned, my god (call it what you will) resides within me. It's a personal god which has nothing to do with the god of any religion. Likewise, I follow no collective, mass movement of worship or, more importantly, anti-worship.

> Men have to live by some type of rule. There is no perfect government but we have to draw the line. America is divided today because people want complete freedom with no responsibilities. It just doesn't work.

Yes, you have put your finger on it. We agree again. The fundamental difference between us is the rule we live by. And there you should realize that those who are called "atheists" are often far more responsible and far better disciplined than those who are "believers" for the simple reason that they take responsibility for their own actions and for their lives. They are out "in the open" and they have no doctrine or church to hide behind or to expiate them of their "sins". As they do so shall they reap -- and they know it.
