thanks Sarge, Without the Grandfathers SI would never had any Market value... who knows what Bob would be doing now? Good point. When we acquired the site, revenues were practically nil. We lost a lot of money for several months. I don't consider a company to have any market value if it doesn't turn a profit. No matter how much content it has. It costs money to provide the platform for that content. Lots of it. Had I been legally obligated to make every new feature available to all Grandfathered/Lifetime members at no extra cost (and they comprise the overwhelming majority of members), I know exactly what I'd be doing now. Continuing to run iHub more and more profitably and letting SI'ers purchase accounts at iHub or somewhere else when SI inevitably turned out the lights. My life would certainly have been easier and iHub would have gained an incredible number of new features and marketshare had I spent 16 months further developing it rather than rewriting this one. A better question might be what would you be doing had we not acquired SI. I think the answer is "not posting, or posting elsewhere" because I am quite convinced that had a purchaser not come along, it would've been lights out in the Summer of '03.
