Actually, what kept it alive was INSP's deep pockets. An expensive saline/cash drip.

It supports itself now.

Don't be too quick to overestimate the value of advertising. At one time, just the name "Silicon Investor" was enough to make an advertiser's mouth water.

Nowadays the ad agencies realize that message boards do not perform very well in terms of ad-clicking, especially message boards on which the majority of members (Grandfathered, etc) never see ads. Worse when the majority of content is about politics but the advertisers who pay the most want their ads seen by people more interested in the stock market than politics.

BobZ would just be an employee someplace, not an owner.
