General comment - Quality doesn't win, price does.

Japan made that mistake when they competed against China in consumer land. They thought only quality was paramount.

Simplicity and price wins, not expensive, complex quality.

Why do you think Walmart is so popular with joe & jane 6pack?

By the time you hear about any of these companies, it'll be too late.

Regards,
Amy J

It takes time to build brand and quality association. 20-30 years ago, who would have thought Toyota or Honda would have been synonymous with quality?

Chinese engineers have the education to rival U.S. engineers and they are now laser focused on quality and creativity. They are beginning to move out of the phase of merely copycatting and moving into quality and new idea creation. We are in for a heck of a competitive challenge over the next 20 years. Even if we stay on top, we're still going to lose an enormous amount of engineering and manufacturing jobs in the U.S. Cisco will not escape unscathed.
