For comparison with LINK Reit, CAR-UN.TO pays 7.8%, nine cents per unit every month with a DRIP, raising the effective yield slightly. Also the HK dollar is, as you know, tied to the US dollar whereas the Canadian dollar is not. I personally have no strong feelings for or against investment in either of these. I suppose, that with inflation, the nominal value of LINK Reit's properties would rise, hence the REIT could borrow more money and buy new properties and thereby grow, slowly. Of course Jay must be right, private ownership of the properties owned by LINK Reit will increase their profitability. However this seems like a one time only event. The management contribution to profitability can't get continuously more and more important over time.
