Brian, I checked the chip sales forecast by SIA home.comcast.net
Its estimates also decreased since June. [ihub poster Culmus made the chart]

From a distance it looks like a stock chart with wildly exuberant estimates made in 2000 for coming years.

Notice how it often takes months after a year ends to get the 'forecast' for that year right. Take the brown line for chip sales in 2003. It ends June 2004. The forecast for 2003 was cut in half over time. All this from people who have much more info than we do at any time. [I don't blame them for not being clairvoyant]
