And you might want to read this:

I have read it before and have just read it again.

I think you should read it again yourself.

The barriers to a just war are very high.

We are far apart on this.

I think just because this administration has won reelection by a very small margin, certain segments of the right wing think they have a mandate to commit as much violence as they feel like it and no one is there to stop them.

That's probably a good assessment - but not necessarily a wise thing to do even from a pragmatic POV.

My generation went too far to the left. We made excuses for welfare chislers, bogus civil rights demands, and did not admonish all the excesses in sexual activities.

As a result there is currently a backlash against the left.

But things change. And they can change quite rapidly. I don't know if you remember, but Lyndon Johnson won by a landslide and thought he had a mandate to do whatever he wanted. He soon found out he could not even leave the Whitehouse without encountering demonstrators.

If the Haliburtons and Enrons continue to get no bid contracts and get paid for services not rendered (for whatever reasons - legal or otherwise); If our President can't go abroad, anywhere, without huge demonstrations; If consenting adults are harassed and their relationships are legislated against; if we allow torture to be part of our defense system, and if we ignore all the civilian (not to mention our own military) casualties that we are inflicting ......

If you don't get my drift by now, I suppose our discussion will not get very far.
