There's a difference between plagiarism and cliche'. Plagiarism is cribbing from the best and brightest, while cliche' consists of copying from everyone else. By plagiarizing, you can get the Nobel Prize or get spectacularly fired, or both. Cliche' just gets you a C+ and a runner-up prize in the poetry slam at the corner coffeeshop.
