Ford Cuts Production as Sales Fall Again

DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F - news) on Wednesday said it was setting first-quarter North American production below the 2004 quarter's levels as U.S. sales fell again in November.

The second-largest U.S. automaker said its sales fell 7.3 percent, continuing a string of lower sales.

Ford said it would produce 930,000 vehicles in the 2005 first quarter compared with 1.008 million in the same quarter this year.

The automaker's results include its import brands and some medium- and heavy-duty trucks and are not adjusted for the number of selling days.

Anyone watched the VIX lately?
I noticed this on the last couple of rallies and Succo on Minyanville commented on it today. "The funny thing is volatility has been higher on the upside than downside in this market. This is very strange."

Here is another story from Succo
UPS, which has been on a tear to the upside, is trading at 29 times earnings and has a five year growth rate of 1%.

Does that sound like a deal to you? If it does, there are plenty of them out there.

Ford Motor Company Reports November U.S. Sales

The Mustang stampede is on. In November, sales of Ford's legendary pony car totaled 12,816, up 12 percent compared with a year ago. That is only part of the story. Retail sales to individual customers were 50 percent higher than a year ago.

"This is a fantastic result," said Jim O'Connor, Ford's group vice president

Sales for the company's new full-size sedans and crossover sport utility vehicle also are increasing.
