The have been 3 sets of H5N1 infections in Asia. The first was in Hong Kong in 1997. There were 18 confirmed cases and 6 died. The second round was the one you posted. There were 3 infected and 2 died. The third round is this year in Vietnam and Thailand. All three were H5N1, but the virus was quite a bit different each time, However, it is the 2004 strain that has become endemic in Vietnam and Thailand.
