The bulk of what he said, the thrust of what he said, what he was about, had to do with how to be a good person and how to treat your fellow man.

A dubious claim. Other than the largely superhuman demands of the sermon on the mount, where are you finding all these "be a good person" teachings in the text?

Stripped of the messianic claim his life isn't all that significant, and there are certainly more important teachers of ethics and morality.
