I have a hard time following numbers without all of the underlying data. I find this paragraph suspect:

We should ask ourselves "Why do people who write news stories about reconstruction in Falluja(h) tend to use one spelling?" I can only think of one very good reason - namely, that this type of news comes from a narrow set of sources, possibly one (that being the occupying forces).

If there are two spellings for a word then there is no basis to know that one spelling represents a small sample while the other represents a large sample. There just isn't any information to support any sort of conclusion.

This leads me to think that the numbers are just there to confuse the reader, as in the question Why do Firemen wear red suspenders?".
