Would Americans rather allow a Sharia law-based Muslim govening system to be imposed on them in the US, or see their beautiful American destroyed? ... The theoretical Saudi Superpower would believe they are on a morally justified invasion of the US in order to liberate the Americans from democracy, and provide them with their God-given right to live under Sharia law. Muslim observers of this would wonder why the Americans are destroying things right and left, rather than celebrate their newfound blessing or Sahria-based governance? Elroy, you are so deluded it's just plain sad. Freedom and democracy is to the human spirit what air is to the lungs. Very few, and only very deluded people who don't know better, would prefer Sharia-law, which complete ignores human rights and oppresses women. Why do you think so many Muslims leave the Middle East? They don't like the systems of government there. The people who institute Sharia law use it as a weapon of oppression and to sieze and remain in power. At first the common Muslims accept it, because it seems to bring peace and security. But then they chaffe under it's brutality. Democracy has been developed steadily by the finest minds for 4,000 years, since the Greeks began to experiment with it. It represents the best evolved form of government that humans have been able to devise. Sharia is merely 1,300 years old and has never evolved since the dark ages. No one in their right mind would prefer that. Your argument is condescending to Muslims and idiotic on its face. You might as well argue that Muslims prefer to be drowned under water rather than live.

If the population was strongly fundamentalist Muslim, you could have Sharia law and democracy. Democracy doesn't mean that you have a culture and legal structure, it just means that people get to vote either directly on issues (in rare cases) or for representatives who pass laws and implement policies.
