Yeah, it is such a tragedy and disgrace about the lack of coal mine safety now in China. Although put it in a historical content, the coal mine safety was only hugely improved in China bet. 1950 and early 1980s, when China was a straight socialist country. Some latest data indicate that the death rate of coal miners in China is 10 times higher than the US. On average, 10 miners died daily in China.

And the govt vows to fund methane controls, which have caused nearly half of China's mining accidents.

Mismanagement, corruption and workers' ignorance are also to blame. This latest accident with 166 deaths mainly caused by the head of that coal mine who wanted to take a 400,000 Yuan prize for producing more coals, so he ignored the workers safety and live. What a criminal! and the provincial-level is also to blame for even setting up this type of award.

I read that in one safety inspection, almost all the miners hide some matches and cig. in their pants. Some researchers suggest supplying them with chewing tobacco so no matches will be needed, but never caused any attention
