Myrrh IS incense. And very aromatic incense, at that. Quite lovely, in fact. As is frankincense. Both are aromatic gum resins exuded by trees (Boswellia of the family Burseraceae and Commiphora abyssinica of the family Burseraceae, respectively).

In Catholic churches, both frankincense and myrrh are loaded into pierced round metal balls (censers) full of smouldering charcoal, and swung around on long chains or cords during high mass. It makes the church smell lovely. Divine, even.

Probably not good for the lungs, but worth it.
