As one who will never collect Soc Sec it is seen in a problem state. Certainly, it will always be around in some form even if dollars are printed to keep it going. It was never meant to be what people retire on unless they were to die within a couple months. SS was thought to be 1/3, savings 1/3, and pension 1/3. Future generations relying on SS 1/2 and savings 1/2 are going to work much longer and have a much lower standard of living than most current retirees.
