<Qualcomm controls the market for CDMA technology> No, they gave away control when they licensed CDMA to Nokia and others way back in 1990 [Nokia being an early signatory and Motorola another]. They sold control for a derisory fee. Bad luck but that's the price of being a little guy while looking for support. Fortunately, the size of the market and their achievements in ASIC design and other things have enabled them to turn a pretty penny in any event. Who needs control when they have brains? Customers flock to the best supplier. Mqurice
