Re: (The Weather Underground's) message of bringing the war home did not translate well to the public. The public is indifferent to criminal imperialism and very sensitive to law-and-order at home. Recall that the public, given the choice, would vote to eliminate the Bill of Rights and hand over despotic powers to a strong leader. This is the same rabble that the Founding Fathers tried to shield the U.S. government from with arcane devices such as the Electoral College.
