I always wondered how my neighbor who is a Cable TV installer did it...on his third marriage, four kids, new SUV this year, new inground pool and going on his second cruise this year at the end of the month(he asked me to keep an eye on the house)!

A month ago, HOV said it was Southern California weather.

yahoo.reuters.com

Today, HOV is blaming the number of weekends in the month.

biz.yahoo.com
but how do they explain big drop in the East while it stayed flat in the West? May be the west coast got one more weekend than the east coast?

In the mean time, it is totally ignored by the market because:

1. less employment means people have time to go shop for real estate?

2. lower interest means even people with no job can buy McMansions?

KBH also has an hilarious PR last night.

The Company also announced its intent to declare a 2-for-1 split of its common stock to be effected in the form of a 100% stock dividend. The stock split is subject to the Shareholders' approval of an increase in the number of authorized KB Home common shares from 100 million shares to 300 million shares. Shareholders will be asked to vote on the increase in authorized shares at the Company's regularly scheduled Annual Shareholders' Meeting to be held on April 7, 2005. Subject to Shareholder approval of the increase in authorized common shares, the Board of Directors intend to declare the dividend immediately and the 2-for-1 split will be effected in April 2005. KB Home's annual cash dividend which was increased from $1.00 to $1.50 per share will be $.75 per share after the 2-for-1 stock split.

So let me see, we split 2-1 but we want to authorize 3 times more shares. Good math.
