I am sorry. Do you not remember the reasons our fearless leader gave to you for this war? We were in danger- we were pre-empting a threat. And I seem to recall you were sure there would be WMD's found. I remember one poster telling us they HAD been found (by a friend of his, of course) and that we would all find out about them soon

I remember the arguments about WMD's. They went on for months and months. Why did folks who supported the war think it was so important to claim they would eventually be found? Because they to understood that the president said we went to war because of a threat (WMD's), Poor old Blair REALLY made the threat clear- as I recall he said the missiles could be there in 15 minutes!!! And boy has he been getting some heat over that. The Brits aren't nearly as gullible as the Americans- and they are very pissed at Blair.

If the American people had not understood (incorrectly, as it turns out) that there was a threat TO them, and that Saddam was in league with Al Qaeda (and a good proportion of them thought Saddam was inolved in 9/11- such is the power of conflation in speech writing) then this war would have even less support than it alreay does. Granted you might still support it- but very few other people would.

"In light of 9/11" you say.. (which has what to do with Iraq?)- you still conflate. Amazing.
