You had biden and lugar in badgad calling for more troops post election. I think bush understands LBJs lesson in vietnam. He has higher ambitions for his second term. We accomplished knocking off saddam and the shiaa and kurds will get most of what they want even if ultimately in separate states with a civil war raging in the Triangle in cities that are near their borders like kirkuk, mosul, badgad and others. As ugly as it sounds, it may be better than tying down 250k troops for half a decade. Mike

If nothing else, the support of influential Iraqis like Sistani is contingent on making every effort to meet the deadline. We do not need any more problems with Iraqis.
