Thank you for your suggestion Sam.......Gordon Wood's book, The Radicalism of the American Revolution" I'm sure it will help me better understand the reasons my forefathers fought in America's revolution.

I started this conversation because once again this specious argument rears its ugly head.

as near as I can tell, the only "fix" on the horizon is more tax cuts for rich people.

I may not know my history as well as most........not all of us are historical scholars. Mine is the perspective of one who learned her history lessons at the knee of her elders. I wonder if just once it could be explained (other than it's just not fair) why some people believe that because someone is wealthy they should be expected to pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes?

My questions are simple, no doubt, but in a democracy, should the "wealthy" be singled out and be required to pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes? And if we are going to discriminate, shouldn't women be taxed at a lower rate because they earn less than men, for instance? Would the consequence be healthy in a democracy? And where does that leave us?

I'm not arguing our tax code.......I'm not qualified. I'm trying to figure out why the "wealthy" are singled out by liberals, and why they expect the "wealthy" to be excluded from the benefits of equality in a democratic society?

Maybe someone like you can analyze and explain this culture to me?
