Well, we started all of this talking about intellectuals.

Business people have their faults, but they generally are not (cannot be) far detached from the world or aloof.

I think intellectuals serve a useful purpose in a society. But they are not the ones you would want to entrust your children's safety to (from terrorists, barbarians, kidnappers, pedophiles, and the like). Nor would they likely be of any help if your car broke down on a lonely road.

They have a place in society but they dither much too much (apologies to me) to ever be in leadership roles.
