Re: When a black woman is treated like any other individual and graded by her actions and not because she's the only black woman in the admin with great power....THAT will be the death of bigotry.

When the first incompetent woman running a company as chief executive or managing director emerges, we will know that we have reached a state of true equality.

Likewise, "when the first incompetent black guy running a company as chief executive or managing director emerges, we will know that we have reached a state of true equality"... because today the obverse is true.

Re: So the secular Baathist dictatorship becomes the theocratic Shiite autocracy. If Bush/Rummy/Rice and the other incompetents du jour had sent in 3Xs the number of troops, Iraq might have become a secular liberal representative democracy.

I'm afraid you're totally clueless here... It's been the US agenda all along to precisely wreck and abort each and every attempt by Arab leaders to set up a nationalist and/or secular regime in the Middle East --with the only exception of Egypt. It's precisely the cunning, cynical strategy of US Judeocons and Israeli Likudniks to exacerbate the Arabs' --and Iranians'-- RELIGIOUS hostility towards Israel and to shift the Israeli-Arab conflict from the merely political/ideological field to the religious/fanatical one....

That's why Yasser Arafat was the bete noire of Israel: his Fatah outfit was (and still is) ecumenical, that is, both Muslim and Christian... Arafat always made it his duty to attend mass on Xmas (his widow is Christian btw). Yet that didn't please Israeli warmongers: Israel is best advertised when cast as the "frail" outpost of civilization against fanatical and barbaric jihadists (Hezbollah, Hamas,...)

The same logic prevailed with Iraq: for all its faults, the Baathist regime too was ecumenical (former Foreign minister Tariq George Aziz is a Chaldean Christian)... Hence the devious, if tacit, US policy to polarize Iraq's factions along religious and tribal lines and its all-out war against the so-called national resistance council...
