I switched my registration to republican to vote for Bush Sr. in the primaries. NC was one of those states where before about 1980, if you didn't register democrat, you had nothing to vote on in the primary and only one candidate to choose from in the general. Anyway, that was my first presidential vote. But I'm glad now that Reagan won rather than Bush Sr. Bush had the resume, but Reagan had the vision.
