U.S. bureaucrat whacked for defending Annan
Move America Forward criticizes State Department, wants U.N. ousted
December 3, 2004

Move America Forward, the group campaigning to get the United Nations kicked out of the U.S., has criticized a State Department spokesman for defending U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, who is increasingly under fire for his alleged role in the Oil-for-Food scandal.
The State Department's Adam Ereli defended Annan, saying he's a "valued interlocutor and has been working, I think, positively and cooperatively in trying to get to the bottom of this Oil-for-Food program."

Move America Forward was co-founded by former California Republican Assemblyman Howard Kaloogian and San Francisco KSFO radio talk-show host Melanie Morgan.

"Mr. Annan has not only allowed for the most massive money-laundering scheme in the world's history to take place, but he has allowed for a complete stonewalling of the investigation into the truth," Kaloogian said in a statement.

"Congressional investigators have met with resistance by U.N. staffers who have engaged in numerous attempts to obstruct the congressional investigation. The U.N. has even stonewalled the private investigation firm (IBIS Risk Management Services Inc.) they hired to investigate this scandal."

Morgan says she is surprised a U.S. official would praise Annan when evidence links his son, Kojo, to the Oil-for-Food scandal.

"Kofi Annan's son, Kojo, worked for one of the Oil-for-Food contractors, Cotecna Inspection Services, which has been implicated in the mishandling of funds," Morgan noted. "The head of the U.N. Oil-for-Food program, Mr. Sevan, has already resigned amid accusations of wrongdoing, and Kofi Annan handpicked him.

"The real question is not how much praise Kofi Annan deserves, but how involved he was in the scam, and the efforts to keep it hidden from the world community."

As WorldNetDaily reported, last month Move America Forward debuted a 60-second commercial slamming the U.N. for the scandal and calling for its ouster from U.S. soil.

"Billions of dollars intended for humanitarian aid instead went to pay the families of Palestinian terrorists, and to buy weapons for Iraq-based terrorists," states the TV ad. "Millions more went to bribe journalists and officials in countries opposing Operation Iraqi Freedom, like France, Germany and Russia, the most vocal critics of the war. What a coincidence."

The group is asking concerned citizens to sign its online petition which will be delivered to President Bush and leaders of Congress, as well as the U.N.

The petition concludes by stating, "We, the undersigned, do therefore call for the following to take place immediately:

Removal of the United Nations Headquarters facilities from New York, relocating it outside of the United States and any of its territories.

A thorough review of the U.S. financial contributions to the U.N. with a goal of a more equitable payment schedule. Until that review is concluded, eliminate all the payments made by the United States to the United Nations."

Annan will survive this scandal imo. He's loved and admired by the non-democratic members of the Security Council because he supports their regimes. He's protected by members who are complicit in the oil for food scandal and they realize they'd be exposed even more if he's removed.

America should withdraw from the UN and discontinue funding. We can do our part by writing our congressmen and the UN.
